I'm not on the side of the angels
But I've kept the devils at bay
Yet right now this city is falling:
This story ends only one way.

At the end of all order, at the start of the night,
Dig in your heels- and hold fast for the fight
For the best of intentions from the wisest of men
Will not bring the fallen to rising again.

I'm not known for being a hunter
But I've kept the wolves from the door
But distant, now closer, they're howling
And soon they will be back for more.

At the end of all hoping, when left with just need
One does what one must to slow down the bleed-
And one question only one asks through all fear:
Will this world be better for what I do here?
