It finally stopped raining! It has rained for most of June and all of July. It fortunately didnt rain during either festival last weekend (unlike the week before) but that's only because I was lugging all of my rain gear around for the entire time.

This weekend, however, was glorious! The plan was to go Manhattan to see the fireworks. I love fireworks.

It was so beautiful on Saturday morning. Sunny, breezy and warm... and no rain! We all decided that it was a perfect day to spend some time on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut. We took my friends boat over to our favorite lakeside restaurant, Down the Hatch.

It was so good to be outside again after so many days being trapped inside. We had a wonderful time - Great beer, top notch bar food and, as always, fantastic friends. The only problem was that it all took quite a bit longer than planned. By the time we got back home we had to admit to ourselves that it was now too late to make it down for the fireworks.

Everything worked out just fine, however we pooled our resources and had ourselves a first rate back yard barbeque. I surprised everyone when I dragged out my secret stash of (totally illegal in this state) Roman Candles, Rockets and Mortars. Oh, yeah that was an excellent 20 minutes or so. Even the neighbors were applauding!

On Sunday I figured I needed a bit of exercise - you may have noticed how well my whole diet plan is going. It was a perfect day for a few miles on

The Appalachian Trail. The local trailhead was mobbed, but the herd thinned out a mile or so in.

Well, Im exhausted. Ill probably get to bed very early tonight and I'm sure that once I do I'll sleep really well. The rest of the week the weather is going to be superb. Summer has finally begun. I cant wait. I have a huge backlog of trails to hike and a bunch of bridges I've been waiting to cross.

I hope that you had a great weekend.
Take care... and best wishes for a wonderful week!
