Just coming off a couple of dark days.

I was all excited about the glorious sunshine on Monday morning but neglected to notice the freezing cold and ferocious winds. There I was, standing at the edge of the porch, basking in the light - luxuriantly stretching and enjoying the view, when a sudden gust knocked me off balance and down to the ground. It's not far, not even three feet, but I landed poorly - twisting my knee and straining my lower back. We quinquagenarians (or at least this one) don't bounce as well as we used to.

A bit later, feeling a bit battered and down, I limped out to the mailbox where I was greeted with a rather unfriendly letter from my pen-pals at the IRS. That pretty much further sullied and solidified my mood. I abandoned my plans for the day and proceeded to lie around, sulk, and feel sorry for myself.

Well, enough of that...

There are so many people here with real, serious, problems and maladies; I feel ridiculous whining about some silly nonsense that I inflicted upon myself. I can't believe that I allowed myself to mope around for two days. I'm back to normal (or at least as normal as I get) and headed out on a quest for groceries and adventure.

In regard to a comment I left elsewhere:
"Noli nothis permittere te terere"
A more grammatically correct way of expressing a slogan popular during World War II:
"Illegitimi non carborundum" - Don't let the bastards wear you down....

No jumping of the gun as I mentioned the intent to get the tickets.
That was one hell of a gust to knock ya off of yer pins.
There seem to be too many shoes dropping. I wish that the familey
of Milipeds living upstairs would either take their shoes off ALL
at once or move. Pain and then the IRS, too F'ing cruel. eeek
Even when my Latin was fresher I'd not have seen that.

It's always disconcerting to be reminded that we're getting older. If it wasn't for my troubles, I wouldn't feel old, even at age 61. I think being able to find my niche on a site such as this allows me to feel younger than my chronological age. I wonder if you have the same mindset as well.
