It's so weird to me to see your journal. My best friend (and former lover) called me up in a chaotic mood of self-doubt today. I had to tell her what a beautiful bundle of contradictions she was. Actually, I'm not a parent. I just find the articles at hipmama to be well written and very relevant. My mom was something of a hipmama.

I used to pick up a lot of random 'zines at a local record store, and I picked up one about goth, punk, and indie parents. They had a link to hipmama and a few similar sites. That's what got me into hip mama.

Anyways, I'm a LONG way from having kids, but if and when I do, I want to be a good parent.

the ren faire is a faire where people dress up in the renassiance era...
there are booths to buy things....games/plays/performances....

alot of the people get "into character" wearing period clothing..using period language...

I enjoy it immensly...because I love costuming and period dress....
but my friends lightheartedly tease me, so I am generally self depricating about it....
