what a crazy freaking week.
The tax return I was counting on to be in the bank by the 4/1 isn't there. The old profit sharing I needed to roll over hasn't and won't before the first either.
Luckily I can borrow some cash from my best friend (
) and cover the balance of what I need to put the deposit down on my apt tomorrow am.
Everything's great, yes? No.
The bank won't make a money order for the total amount I need and the money orders are 5 bucks each (insanity) which would be fine if I didn't have barely more than the deposit together. So I withdraw nearly my entire bank account and hightail it to the post office. I get two money orders for less than what it would have cost me for one at the bank AND I have my deposit covered for tomorrow to sign the lease.
Everything's great, yes? NO.
I call the leasing office to confirm tomorrow and make sure I still have an apt and that money orders will suffice for the security and the leasing office informs me that I have to go to the offices of the towns gas and electric companies to turn them both on prior to signing the lease. Okay.
I call and it turns out I need 125 dollar deposits each for gas and electric. Fuck. That's exactly 250 dollars more than I've got to my name. Wonderful. I call up the leasing office and explain my predicament and she says that she'll allow me to sign the paperwork tomorrow and bring the receipts for gas and electric friday morning. Yay! Now I have to pray to any and every god that the refund hits on the 2nd. *gulp*
While I'm on the phone the mail comes and in it is the State refund for 286 dollars. I run to my new bank to deposit or cash the check.
Everything's great, yes. No no NO!!
I can't deposit it because it's addressed to me AND Anthony and he's not on my account. I can't cash it because there isn't enough in the account to cover it. Ironic that hours earlier I could have cashed it with ease since there was the majority of my deposit in there.
Figures.
So I race to the bank at the other end of town, where our joint account still resides, and try to cash it there. That account is overdrawn so I end up depositing it, which means it's also lost to the overdrawn amount when it clears. Double fuck. Even more pressure for that damned refund to be in the account on the 2nd.
So I come home and realize I could have taken that sucker to a check cashing place. *smacks forehead for five minutes straight*
Finally I've come to terms that I am a huge goober and that this day cannot get any worse. I also wonder if I can pay for the deposits on my utilities with a personal check, thereby buying time for the tax refund to get in the account. By the time this revelation hit me the offices of both utilities were closed, so I'll call tomorrow.
*gasp*
I don't even want to tell you about the movers....but I will.
They are another wonderful experience. They charge by the hour so I won't know how much the total will be until after everything's said and done.
They also won't accept personal checks or debit cards...they want a cashiers check or cash...for an amount that doesn't exist yet. Great. I'll call Miss Cleo tomorrow, too.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I'll be so grateful with this is all over.

hope the movers turn out better than you think. if you get a good company and they send some nice guys, it hopefully won't cost you an arm or a leg! maybe just a pinky toe
