The beginning paragraph to a story I have yet to write. Enjoy.
Normal was a small town located on the outskirts of Illinois. In a sense Normal lived up to its name, it appeared average on every level imaginable. Houses were neatly squared into blocks of perfectly trimmed lawns and hedges, freshly painted picket fences, and straight shutters lined clean windows saturated with the scent of glass cleaner. The people of Normal appeared as such also, they all made a decent living, the weeks were filled with the sweat of labor dripping down to weekends full of family gatherings and Sundays devoted to worship and allotted rest. So at first glance from an untrained eye Normal in fact did appear to be normal in every sense of the word, but if one was to look deeply through all of the pretty shrubbery they would notice that the place was not normal at all. In fact, the town was extremely peculiar, for down the perfectly normal and smoothly paved street of Main stood one bizarre little house, and inside the bizarre little house lived a strange young man. And it was this strange young man that would soon stir up a wave of oddities that made Normal never normal again.
