Happy to report that the waterbed hook-up kit arrived today, so I won't have to labor in cool water.
Here's the list of things that need to happen before I go into labor:
1. the arrival of the birthing pool (worst case scenario, we'll have to use the one that I already bought that's too big)
2. the supports must be in place under the trailer (this is supposed to happen either today or tomorrow) *worst case scenario, we'll have to relocate to my parents' back porch (it's enclosed)
Actually, I guess that's all I really NEED to happen now before I can safely go into labor. It would be a bonus if:
1. the birthing ball I ordered arrives before the birth (won't be of much use afterwards, except I think some people use them for exercise)
2. the other birthing supplies I ordered arrive before the birth (of course I can find other uses for KY Jelly)...also ordered a footprinting kit & a baby t-shirt that says "born at home", so those will be handy as long as I get them within the first week of Kagome's out-of-utero life.
3. the midwife gets a chance to come out to the house for a pre-labor visit as planned (if not, oh well!)
Things I'm worried might go wrong:
1. the midwife won't get here fast enough (2 hour drive from where she lives to here)
2. I will regret not having anything for the pain
3. there will be some reason that I end up having to go to the hospital before/after the birth (crossed fingers)
4. there won't be enough hot water to keep the pool warm (only have a 35 gallon hot water heater & the pool holds 100 gallons...suggestions?)
5. the person who's supposed to come film the birth will forget the camera or the tape or something
6. my parents will show up & ruin my serene birth
7. Katana will freak out at seeing me in pain
8. a big mess will occur during the birth or after the birth during clean-up
Enough of that...I'm sure I have lots of unfounded worries & maybe everything will go smooth as silk. I'm still really excited & looking foward to having this birth my way.
I'm even thinking of going to school to become a certified nurse midwife. I'll debate on this idea further after Kagome has arrived safely.
Today's agenda:
1. put money in bank for bills
2. go with Gabriel to get his pot
3. get some food from Wing Zone for Gabe's belated birthday supper
4. get some stamps for baby shower invitations
5. go to Wal-Mart for trash bags
The end.
