Today is a HAPPY day.
I got some great news.
I had sent out some last minute cries of desperation (in the form of emails) to midwives I had spoken to previously in my pregnancy. I had ruled them all out either due to distance or cost, but for some reason I decided to try again.
Lo & behold! One of the midwives that had previously quoted me $2500 gave me her phone number & I called her up. She said she's willing to work with me & let me pay for her attendance at my home/waterbirth after the fact (which is unusual). The only thing I will have to pay upfront is for her gas to drive from Birmingham to Gordo (no big deal). And she has agreed to attend the birth for $1200. It might seem like a lot, but to me it's worth every penny.
I am going to meet with her Wednesday & buy all my supplies (birthing pool, floating thermometer, tarp, underwater flashlight, etc.) I'm so excited!
For all of those of you who worry, don't! We can be at the hospital in 25 minutes if we need to.
Now, I have to get started writing Katana's birth story for the midwife. She wants to know how my last labor & delivery went. What fun!
