Man am i pissed.
Plain and simple, this job is the single biggest dissapointment of my life. It's also the greatest deception...the greatest wolf in sheeps clothing ive ever encountered. Externally, they seem like a GREAT company, and i must admit their employee benefits package is quite staggering, but...
Yankee expects me to completely fucking shut down my life so i can go to work, and issue i will cover shortly. I have had to work over fifty hours the past two weeks, over the course of six days each, thats right, going in and extra hour each day AND havinbg to work saturday, and it's manditory ((i know some if you may work more than that, and trust me i sympathize...)).
Next that work thing i was talking about....I DONT DO ANY!! The bastards make me go to work all this overtime and then i get told by nearly everyone in the department that i should "look busy" all freaking day, just in case the depeatment head swings by...WTF is that?! I work in the receiving department....we didnt have a _single_ truck come in yesterday, thus i had to spend the entire shift slaving away in Order Fullfillment ((the mindless zombie wage slaves that pick orders and fill boxes with candles all night)). The other kid i wirk with and i spent a decent half of last nights shift hiding in various places of the warehouse just because there was nothing to do...NO-THING!
On top of all of that they force feed us easy listening music all night, every night. Now i know this may not sound like much to some of you, but A) if you know ((and some of you do)) how important and how potant a force music is in my life, you'll understand. And B) it's a proven fact that upbeat music increases work productivity. They amke us listen to this depressing, lame, pussy, logey fucking music alllll day, it's like being slowly totured to death...seriously. They used to play 99.3, while i admit it's still crap, and least it's work-to-able. But someonf the "older" crowd there complaing that the music was offensive and being the "happy family" biz that YCC is they had to comply.
So, why? I ask you, must i work extended hours each day, and lose my weekends and not get to see anyone i care about, including my girl, and be forced to cancel all my plans for the weekend because they didnt tell us until 20:00 hours last night that we had to work Satuday? why?
Word to the wise dont EVER try to get a job with the Yankee Candle Company. It will be the biggest waste of your life.
