i slept alone last night for the first time in a long time.
my bed felt too large for my small frame.
my sleep was heavy, uninterupted at four-thirty am to share a cigarette in silence.
uninterupted every few hours by a body moving closer, carefully replacing an arm around my waist, squeezing hard, oh yeah, there you are.
uninterupted by the heaviness of someone crawling over you when they get up to get a glass of water.
uninterupted by the heated breath and pounding heart that reminds you that you are not alone.
it was deep and thick and it felt like dying.
uninterupted darkness with no one there to remind you that you are in fact alive.
