Was on a wildfire and was released last week from it, the same day had an LODD (line of duty death) on the fire. An engine crew we had interacted with prior. Later that same day from the chief that we were to be in the group to escort him home. Rushed to get the engine washed and detailed that night so it'd be ready in the morning. That moring we all put on our uniform button up shirts (which are hardly worn) and went to the morge to releive the engine crew that was there over night standing with him. We were later joined by two more agency engines and all escorted him home, when we got outside of town the local engines joined in, and the procession went to with mortuary with full traffic control.

I've been on fatality car wrecks, and pumped chest; but taking a fellow firefighter home is the hardest thing to do.
