I need advice!!!

I need a new camera. It's time. My LCD screen has been broken for a few months. I think I need an upgrade.

(Yeah, I know... I already updated today. Go look at the other journal if you want something interesting to read.)

So... the one I have now is a Samsung Digimax 420. I got it for pretty cheap, it's durable and light and easy, and I really have no complaints. I just figure I can do better.

I'm certainly no photographer. What I truly need is a camera that is something cheap, and easy to use in all lighting (including dim bars or by a campfire) and all situations, lightweight and hardy and no problems. Cuz about half of the pictures I take, I am DRINKING when I take them.

So I need a good DRUNK camera. Why don't they advertise them like that? "So easy to use, you can be DRUNK and still take great pictures!"

I'm looking to spend $200-300 or so... maybe 4 or 5 megapixel, basically point-and-shoot. My current one takes 2 AA batteries, and I like that. Easy to deal with.

Biggest issue: I constantly have trouble with low-light situations. You've seen my pictures. I hate how the flash looks, but if I turn it off I get that nasty blurry poor quality. Did you notice I often turn off the flash anyway? I'd rather have that natural light look even if it might be blurry.

Any suggestions? You guys are camera people. Help a Goob out!

Here is with flash:

and without:

See, that second one is fine... but look at what happens in a lower light or movement pic. Here's the flash one, all washed out and yucky:

And here is no flash, blurry:

I moved just a little tiny bit. Silly me.

I did figure out how to change the ISO but even when I did, the pics would be less blurry from movement and more grainy and fuzzed anyway. Ick. Now I can't change the ISO anymore cuz I can't see the screen. So I need to figure it out on a new camera. Maybe I should take a photo class. But I have no time! Sorry to bother you folks about this.

Please tell me if you know how to make this better, or if you have a camera to recommend.

Yeah, Photoshop can be expensive...There are other solutions that can still help with making the pictures better to your eyes.

Microsoft has "Digital Imaging Suite 10" that is quite good, and geared more for the casual user, from what I understand. I've not used it but a friend of mine has. It's something like $99 list... That's about the same price as Photoshop Elements--the low end version of photoshop.

If you want something that leads you through retouching your photos, Digital Imaging might be a good choice. If you want to go beyond the basics, the reviews indicate either Photoshop Elements or Jasc Paint Shop photo editor.
