I just heard a new Beck song and I am so excited. Yay! Beck's new album, titled "Guero", will be out in March. It's supposed to be along the lines of "Mellow Gold", but I don't expect it to be much the same. Beck is really good at making each album a unique experience. Each album is not necessarily a collection of songs, it's one single entity. I especially love the way he brings the albums together at a live show... the flow from one end of the spectrum to the other is gorgeous. I can't wait to see what this one will feel like. One review claims it's "an attempted return to Beck's signature 'junkyard-funk' sound" and basically trashes the album's potential. That's a shame, but I tend not to agree with critics anyway. You know me... I love everything he does. And just think- he'll be touring again! I'll be watching the schedule.
Wow... um... I just looked it up on my filesharing network of choice, and it's all over the place. Hmm... Upon further probing, it seems to be blocked somehow. Crazy. Well, that's no big deal. I'm gonna buy the album regardless. Can't be upset that it's blocked.
Cool thing- on Beck's wesite it says there will be two versions released in the US. One is the regular 13-track version, the other is "a deluxe 2-disc set that features the 13 tracks plus 3 bonus tracks and 4 remixes. The second disc will feature the 5.1 mix of Guero, along with two videos." Guess which one Goob is gonna get?
I did watch the game last night, as planned. It was pretty interesting. That's the first time I've ever watched a football game all the way through. Well, from the beginning of the 2nd quarter on. Not much happened in the first quarter, anyway. I won't embarass myself by trying to say anything more than that. I'd give Goob's Review of the Superbowl but it would probably be nave and ridiculous.
I hope everyone got to catch some of the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. It was the friggin coolest thing ever.
Tonight I have a chill evening at home. I'm gonna go make something fun for dinner then try to get some more reading done. And probably listen to some Beck. Go figure.
Trivia: Whose hat am I wearing in the picture? Ha ha... nobody knows the guy but maybe I mentioned his name here and there.
