I am so busy now that I have no time to update my journal. See, that's counter-productive... cuz obviously if I am that busy there is more to write about.

Life's a bitch, ain't it?

So right now I should be reading "Guns, Germs, and Steel" for my Comparative Early Civilizations class, because I am supposed to summarize chapter 7 and post it online for my classmates. Fuck. I was planning to do that this evening... but I have to finish reading it before I write it, and I got home an hour later from work than I expected to.

The shitty manager got fired... or walked out... or some such shit but I say Hell Yeah, about fucking time. She was more concerned with playing favorites and whining and making excuses than she was concerned with helping the restaurant succeed... you know it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if we have no CUSTOMERS we make no MONEY, yet she closed the restaurant earlier and earlier, turning away customers. Ok, so fine she wants to be home with her hubby... but when the whole restaurant suffers for it, GET A NEW JOB. I'm sick of leaving with less than $40 when I used to make two or three times that.

Ummm.... sorry about that rant. So yeah, tonight I was a closing server and we stayed open until 10 as we should... but I got a table at around 9:45 so we had to wait til they were done. These 3 guys were from Chile and they spoke English fairly well... but not fluent. We had trouble understanding each other, but it was kind of fun to try. I have to say, even though it sucked being there so late, it was really interesting. Try translating salad dressings into Spanish. Julie was walking by at one point and overheard, and she laughed at me later for my description of what a "scoop" of ice cream was. Best part- when I asked chocolate or vanilla ice cream (yes they had a full meal plus dessert) and one guy ordered vanilla, the other guys started singing "Ice Ice Baby". These were middle aged business men.

I wonder if this great motivation I have right now will last through the semester. I've been really slackin with the motivation thing over the past few... years. I blame it on my old dayjob. Did I mention I went to lunch with all my old coworkers? Funny thing was, half the people at the table were, like me, EXcoworkers. Some laid off, some quit like I did, a couple just walked out with no notice. (!!!) I was a nice guy and gave 2 weeks notice.

I went hiking this weekend. It was a fun time... camping in the snow, basically an excuse to sit around a campfire and drink. We were up on the Appalachian Trail not far from the Delaware Water Gap. There were 10 people... and 9 different kinds of whiskey. Oh yes. Perhaps I will post pictures.

Holly is home from Europe. Such awesome pictures... I'm really fucking jealous still, and what makes it worse is that she doesn't think she can afford to go again (with me this time) even though she really wants to go with me next time cuz I'm so much damn fun (I knew she'd miss me and wish I was there) cuz she's making it a priority to move out of her parents' house (which I can't blame her for cuz that place is a fucking madhouse) i think this sentence is over what do you think? i give up.

Last night I went out with Holly and Peaches and we had dinner at a bar then went to see Sideways. It was a pretty funny movie... not really my style but I liked it in spite of that. It was funny.

For some reason the only time people call me or want to do stuff, the only time social events are happening that I want to be a part of, it is a weeknight. Come on, people! I can't be doing that. I'm gonna be a responsible little Goob. So the problem is, I have Friday evenings and Saturday evenings free, but no plans most of the time. In fact, I am free this Sunday and I want to go to a Superbowl party. I know I'm weird, but I have NEVER watched the Superbowl before. This year I have the day off and it's my hometown team, the "Iggles" as they say. So dammit, I wanna party! I feel like I need beer and wings and large loud guys. I wanna see the commercials everyone gets so excited about. I had a friend was gonna have a party, but she cancelled due to disinterest. I want to find a nice big event to join. Maybe I'll just find a crazy bar.

Hmm maybe I should go make myself a snack. (snack, snack, eat a snack. eat a snack with brown and black.)

Then I'll read some and maybe write some and hopefully get to sleep some.
