Here I am sitting in my underwear in front of the computer AGAIN. I didn't leave my house yesterday at all. I only left the house once today, cuz I had to work.
At least I'm not spending money.
I'll be going out tomorrow night anyway- MoI with some SGPhilly folks. Yay! And don't forget kickball Saturday.
I'm reading Dune again, for the first time in years. It's a damn good book. I like it a lot better this time than I did last time... actually I think I liked it a lot last time I read it, also... I just didn't retain it like I ought to have. Ever read a book, then ten years later you go back and it's like you never read it, and the story is a surprise again? Well, this is kind of like that except I am remembering stuff as I read, and it's kind of cool.
I'm most of the way through my CD collection, starting to put them back on the shelf. There are 4600 tracks in the computer now. I have only 9 backup CDs so far though. though. Gotta get cracking with that. The coolest thing about backing up all my music is that I keep finding CDs I forgot I had. David Bowie- Heathen. Phish- Slip Stitch and Pass. The Buena Vista Social Club. Sinad O'Connor- Faith and Courage. Juliana Hatfield. Mark Knopfler. Lords of Acid!
So it hasn't been a waste of time, completely. I have run out of clean panties, though. Two pair left- the uncomfortable ones. I am wearing the last ugly ones. That means if I don't make a laundry run tomorrow, I've either got to get up early Thursday and do it, or start washing stuff in the bathroom sink.
I've been sleeping in the Spare Oom the last few nights (also known as "the Wedge"). It's nice and cozy in there. I am considering rearranging my apartment, moving my mattress into the Wedge and using it as a bedroom... and moving the couch and desk from the Wedge into the current bedroom where I am right now. Maybe that will help me avoid living in front of the computer screen, so it won't be the first thing I see when I wake up anymore. The only problem with that setup is that as the weather gets cooler, the new sleepspace will also get cooler. There is no heater in there. I might buy a space heater, but I'm not sure if it will hold in there. I think it's probably drafty. Also, is there enough headroom if I'm having crazy wild sex? I'd hate to bump my head in the heat of the moment. Maybe I should give it a test run first.
I know I am not the only one here with a computer addiction... so I will ask for advice. How do you battle your addiction? What do you do to convince yourself to turn the machine off and do something productive?
In case you didn't believe me:
