People (even models) can be unrealistic about their expectations, or allow their personal problems (addictions, debts or sheer stupidity) to poison their business relationships. They chuck a hissyfit, leave and declare war on the "axis of evil". Other reactionary types join in the fray, vent off publicly, getting the sensitive types depressed about things. Pretty soon the lemmings are marching off the cliff.
