I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I think my luck has seriously improved! Why, do you ask? Well let me tell you...
I went for an interview yesterday for a higher level position within my company. I got to leave work (and get paid for it!) for 3 hours. The interview went ok, I guess, but that's not really the good news. When I get back to work I go to lunch, and near the end of my luch break one of my supervisors tracked me down and asked me if I wanted to work on a project.
I said that I wanted to get more info on this and he told me to go see the big-wig manager. I was a little hesitant, but I figured if it's not something I wanna do I could always say no. Come to find out, they want me to help test-pilot a special group dedicated to locating trouble on our new IP telephony network! Time off the phones, and I don't have to deal with helping the asshole general public with thier internet connection!?!?! Hell YES! (sorry to generalize, not all of you are assholes)
The only down-side is that my schedule is changing to mornings M-F.... I'll miss my 4 day work week and it kinda interferes with some things in my personal life, but I can't pass this up! After a couple of months, I should have the option to transfer into this position full-time.... if the pilot is successful that is. Plus, I have previously scheduled OT for the next week and I will be finishing that out, but afterward M-F 9-5ish! My next check should be SWEET! Ok, let me contain myself here.... sorry to be all stupid, but I can't help but be happy.
Maybe I should believe in the power of fortune cookies after all....
Next thing you know this will be my office, and these will be my assitants!
