Wanna know what the creepy old straight guy thinks of "Eclipse"?
Here ya go:
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
ECLIPSE
So, the third film of the Twilight Saga. As you know, Ive read the books, and while I fully realize theyre not classic literature, theyre not deserving of the hate they receive just because theyre so popular.
The same can be said of the movies. Though not as effective as the books, they have their place, and theyre entertaining enough.
Eclipse deals mostly with an army of new vampires setting up shop in Seattle in order to get to Cullen clan The good guy vampires The ones we root for.
But of course whats really going on here is the three way between Bella, Edward and Jacob. Who. Will. She. Choose? (excess periods used for dramatic purposes)
Anyway, the three leads, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and The Shirtless Taylor Lautner (I think thats his legal name now) havent really stretched much as actors.
Stewarts the best of the three, but I think she impressed me more last time with "NEW MOON". Im curious to see how shell pull off the two part finale, Breaking Dawn. Thats the darkest of the books and the one that requires the most from the character.
Pattinsons fine as the gentleman vampire, but Lautners still got that little boy delivery squeaking out from behind his six pack.
Rachelle Lefevre was unnecessarily dumped from the series, and Bryce Dallas Howard was brought in instead to play the vengeance seeking Victoria. While an important role, it wasnt a huge role screen time-wise, and I dont see why the change was made.
Anyway, Eclipse is pretty much what youd expect after seeing the first two flicks. Directed by David Slade of "Hard Candy" and "30 Days of Night" fame, this one does have a fewcoolerscenes than weve seen before. But its still not dark enough to appease true vampire fans, and so the haters will keep on hating.
B +
So anyway, don't have much going on this three day weekend (shocking, I know) but I'm hoping it's not a washout.
I wanted to see "The Last Airbender", but the reviews have been SO bad. Dunno.
There's a big family get together tomorrow. Hmmm, we'll see how that goes.
Anyway, ok, peace & goats...
However that entire theory and awesome story goes right out the window and is blasted into oblivion the day stephanie meyer learned to write and thought up the story.. i mean kudos to her for having an awesome idea that if written by someone else I would probably be part of that crazed twilight insanity but instead I feel instantly more stupid, illiterate and like I dropped 50 IQ points and pretty upset with myself for reading the first book.
I also feel pretty sad and upset and angry at her for ruining what could have been a great book series and a great story. I love vampires and she almost ruined them for me.
