reach across tidal flats.

Beyond high mists, sun crackles

cross distant, restless fluid.



Slack water slowly returns

as the bright hole spits last rays

between lips of cloud and sea.



Blue mussels clickwhistle at

the glowing solar bounty,

tied to rocky gendarmes

above slow marauding stars.



Each breaker casts brassy sparks

collapsing in fat orange light

across a shallow bedding.



A mobile of late gulls

wheels madly overhead.

Warm white exclamations

arc between wrist and pad;

shit.
