I thought to let

her sip a drought

of bubbles from

my eager mouth.


Mused over tangs

of snapping sphere

and elder grape

her words sprang tart;



"I still recall

the first to tease

and satisfy

my lips with wine."



My heart grew sour

as I despaired

that truth was not

a friend of love.
