So good news on my clubnight, it's now officially mine!!

Background; My sister runs an indie night called Hong kong gardeners club, qon 2nd prise in best clubnight last year locally, which was a bloody good achievement for a night open for two months. Plus airtime on radio 1, bands have played there before going on to big things etc. Now, a year later, it's a club night and a live band night and will be hosting it's own stage at Southseafest, which is a citywide festival, which will be brilliant.

Anyhoo, i started up Gridlock two months ago, to take all the harder (more rock etc) bands off sis' hands and give her a break one thursday a month. Now, two nights later and the third one tonight, it's been handed over as my own night due to me, well, basically being awesome haha. I've got more bands lined up, promoters and Djs willing to help me out and it's a great feeling. When i lost my old venue, it's been so boring the past few years, now i not only have somewhere to call home for DJing, but can also put on some of the freshest talent in the uk!!

But of course, i will always need more bands, so if any of you guys know of decent bands wanting gigs in Portsmouth, let me know! (or if you know any clubs needing guest DJs for metal, industrial, psychobilly etc, let me know)

and now, some song lyrics;

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I have to admit that I am one of the many
Who thought that a guitar would win him a lady.
My teenage years, they were a feminine drought,
And I thought that a serenade would help out.
And it seemed to be working for a couple of years
I wrote a few songs and they wrought a few tears.
But when I hit my twenties, it ran out of steam.
I seemed to be suffering from romantic fatigue.

And I never know which song I should play her
Each melody is a memory of a not-forgotten failure.
So when I get out my guitar tonight to do what I do,
Remember, I probably didnt write this song for you.

So as I have mentioned, the shelf-life was short.
The scheme wasnt working, despite what I thought.
The ladies all left me alone in the end,
So I had to switch all the names around and then sing it again.
And every life-long love, and every best friend,
Slipped away into the past.
Take my words with caution I cant pretend that youre the first,
You wont be the last.

I never know which song I should play her
Each melody is a memory of a not-forgotten failure.
So when I get out my guitar tonight to do what I do,
Remember, I probably didnt write this song,
No I certainly didnt write this song,
No I never, never wrote a song for you.

Only downer of the day has been talking to my dad. I never spoke to him much as a kid, he was always travelling. Now he's retired in argentina after spending 6 years living in Miami, so as you can guess i dont see him much and damnit I miss the old coot!!! He called for the first time in two months today, sounding older and more delicate, saying he misses me and wishes i was there. So do I. So now, all my available money will be going on buying a ticket out there for January, as I dont know how long he'll be around. blackeyed

I'm still getting blown away by some of the awesome talent on this site...when i say talent, i dont mean boobs, i do mean talent. great photography doing on and some awesome art work. Really getting my creative juices flowing. Recording some new songs and covers next week hopefully. Huzzah!!!

I'm sure it'll pick up, maybe just an off week. Frank Turner was great last time I saw him, everyone was singing along. Only problem was the sound was terrible, in the sense that it was way too loud. I had to stand at the back as it made my feel ill being down the front.

Yeah I'm not going to do the door to door thing, I don't think I'll even go that thing on monday. I don't think I'd even last three weeks.
