So then. My parents came up today. It's weird... sometimes I am glad to see them and other times the entire visit is awkward as hell. This was one of the latter times.
Fortunately, the majority of our time together was broken up by music because we were at the community band festival (if that's the right word) at the Winspear, as my father's band from Red Deer was playing. It was interesting, because after the first band played (and not that well) I was really kinda nervous but the Red Deer band actually did well. It's AMAZING what a difference dynamics can make for the sound of a band. They also took me out for supper which always goes well in my book. Awkward yes... but awkward with compassion. It's how my family works, I guess.
Afterwords, I went to my friend's place for a rather rewarding afternoon. He has been making his own beer and wine but is moving back to Olds and so wanted to get rid of some of it first. Good times were had.
That is, until I had the idea of each of us eating one of his dried hot peppers and then washing it down with a beer. One beer out of a dixie-cup sized glass isn't enough and waiting for the next three was rather painful. Fortunately the wine was readily available so once I made the switch things improved.
Except for the sobriety. The entire washing down a hot pepper process took 10 minutes and in that time enough alcohol was consumed to seriously hinder the "responsible drinking" approach we all came with.
Fun fact: Red wine can, in fact, be taken out of white carpet by white wine. I wouldn't have believed it... but it appears to be true in this case.
Fun fact 2: homemade wine and beer parties are good fun times.
This has been one of the best nights I've had in quite a while.

It's okay man. I went in this morning and finished it. It's not as good as I would have liked but the time just wasn't there. Thanks for your help.
