I have always loved music. Way back in 2001, when I was deciding what to go into post-secondary for, I chose Computer Science. I figured I would rather be in that as my "job" and have music as my "hobby." That way, I wouldn't stress out about NEEDING to make music; I could do it because I love to.

I guess that's a fancy way of saying I believe I would fail as a musician so I remain afraid to try. Take it as you will.

There have, however, been several bands that have came along and made me question my choice. Metallica (and solos by Jason Newstead, specifically) was the first, followed by Godsmack, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Holly McNarland (among others).

Since then, there have only been a few bands that have touched me this way. I don't mean "I like their music and bought the album" kinda touched me. I mean like it hurts to listen to the music because it takes me somewhere I wish I could be forever. A place without stress or worrying about marks... where I get to do what I love doing.

This was highlighted this spring on tour with the choir I belong to. Many people came up to me and would ask me why I was so happy. The only answer I had was "I'm on tour with a group I love. Why wouldn't I be?"

The point of this post? A few minutes ago I happened to download some evanescence videos ("everybody's fool" and their cover of Korn's "thoughtless"). They made it pretty much impossible for me to finish my work. Oddly enough, I'm not even saying that's a bad thing.
