Since I posted:
Bought a motorbike. It is a delight, I think. I've been looking at Honda Shadows since I was 16 (used to drive by a dealership every week on my way to bass lessons) so finally owning one is a bit of a trip. Also, I have a leather jacket which is something I've always wanted but given my portly computer geek nature I haven't been able to justify. Now I can and I think that is grand.
Also, I got engaged. Apparently this came as a fairly major surprise to people. I definitely have been outspoken about aspects of marriage; I don't see the point of doing it when everyone else is nor do I see the point in doing something that is nearly guaranteed to cause both financial and emotional stress on at least one of the parties. It is just kinda how I roll. that said... I do however think it makes sense to do nice things for those you care about. I'm weird like that.
