scott,

so i now have in hand a cheap copy of "gunslinger" by way o' the folds o' the
trenchcoat o' the net. there are raw white spots on the back but it has a strong spine.

i arrived last nite from m' fud, MA with good notions of cider talks ( i noted repeatedly an intense attachment to the hard physical places of past history... dig The Big Dig in boston, not nature but man made structures) i figure monuments stay, they are dedications to a certain act or spot and act as hard world crutch for history book prose.

when it comes to issues of places like the Bronx
which are rich thru culture firstly, their preservation
is the duty of art

easy to say now, but if someone asked me tomorrow
whether or not to flatland the bronx (we'll give "them" the credit
of having under arm a more benevolent plan as replacement)

i may whine that i had'nt yet really the chance to soak up

but what i finally learned by the beats is 40's new york aint comin'
back, and on certain romantics you must let go the leash

and so on and son

a book store in virginia sold my a copy of the poems of catallus (dedicated to william carlos williams no less) and already i love this man with who loves lesbia who loves half the wordy, worldly population it seems.

his writing in letter form tempts me...

finally ,

it there an address by which you contacted devendra? i met him during south by southwest
and would much like his company (and his company's company) in touring the sanfran area
or at least a steady play back by letters

now to find lodgings for the fall!

P.S.

I have not yet received a proof... and... this mail is sick with parentheses
