I will start to grow a lemon tree
My minds is cloud minds. I feel the great pull of California
where i have never been, most or more so towards san francisco.

holding the shiny-est string for this come-on is the new american folk
scene which, with the toadstool sittings of joanna newsom, vetiver and
the currently relocated devendra banhart seems to be rooting on the west

I have never felt more connected to a group of people
the music is vital sure but almost, ah... secondary
to the actual personalities which are so evident on records or
stage

to be among (or of) them would be for me extremely productive

There is need for a unification of the experimental poetics of america
and this new folk

how i write, how the talents in my hometown of austin write
they seem to hint at an instinct vision of the country relit

the old myth of it grumbling from below the times of CNN, commercials
computers, electric light, whatever

with the young here, which are tuned to it's escaping vapors
it is psychedelic

the myth of america, focus yr. eyes does anyone agree?
pet:
i'm not really sure.. i haven't kept up with the folk scene as of late.
uh.. but sally taylor is pretty good..?

hmmm, comtemporary folk....

it's on the rise, women are dominating the talent right now. songwriting remains key although anyone thinks they can unplug their guitar and be "folk". experimental poetry can be found with all the big fish: ani, cat powers, aimee mann, elliiot smith, etc. , but no one will surpass bob dylan and joni mitchell.
just my two cents. smile
