Allllllllrighty then, let's try this again.

Got back from my very short trip to Candela which is a really small border town of Costa Rica and Panama. My uncle's wife, Katte, grew up there and her family owns a HUGEEEE coffee farm with like 30 acres of land. TOTAL immersion in Spanish lol No one there speaks any English. I was only there for the night but wow it was a great way to really get back into speaking total Spanish. I think I did pretty good. I carried on convos and stuffs. But anyways.. Hito and Karol are Katte's family also and Hito grew up in Costa Rica so he gave us this bad ass tour of all these crazy places he used to go to as a kid.

I think I'll just skip to the pics now.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Katte, pretending to ride Marvin's moto. =p

This is in Costa Rica, but it's this huge field that Hito's family owns and all the people from the mountain come in Dec. to celebrate (because Dec. is summer for them).

Then he took us to the HUGE tree that is like two trees in one. The outer one ate the inside one and then it kind of died or something on the inside so it's all hollow.

"So yeah... Rachel climb it!" lmao alllllright! biggrin

The inside looking up!

Hito at the bottom

This is when we played Hand Off the Camera

Outside the tree looking out at Masiel, Katte's mama in the giant field of wild berries biggrin

Then Hito's cousin showed up and Katte, so we all started climbing =]

Kimberly, Hito and Karol's daughter. This kid is only 7 and is SUPER smart, which is also the thing that really freaks me out about her... Weird kid lmao

Marvin and Hito's cousin climbed to the very top. I got about half way and then turned around. It's a lonnnng drop to the bottom. eeek

You can't really see them, but they're up there. woooooooo that's a big ass tree to climb to the top of..

Masiel and Hitito. =] This woman cracks me up beyond all reason.

Me on the moto lmao I got to ride this thing later. biggrin

Then Hito took us to this old (pretty much abandoned) hotel called La Amistad. It's closed most of the time and you need a reservation to go there and stay the night. But it's kind of a bed and breakfast thing. This is the plant that is right next to the hotel where they manufacture LOTS of fruits and coffee.

A really big turbine used to make coffee.

Hito, Kate, and I

The front of the hotel. The guys that were working at the plant let us take a look around for free! Even though there was no one there which is even cooler in my eyes.

Kimberly, Kate, Me, and Karol biggrin

LMAO! That's Kate! biggrin Love that girl, my new BFF for life

Kimberly, Kate, and I

All of Karol's family. Karol is Kate's sister.

=]

There were grapes all over the ceiling lattice used for making wine. Goooooood grapes!

Kimberly actually took this picture!

Kate and I biggrin

Then Hito took us down this road right behind the coffee plant..

This is a river that all the Indigenous use to bathe in. It's cold as FUCK

It all spills down into a water fall love

This was cool, standing on the edge of a cliff. =] Pictures can't capture the beauty. Especially when you're using a shitty point and shoot. lol

And last but not least, the chanchos at the finca. =]

So all in all this was one of the best days I've had in my life. =] Not to mention Kate and I went out to a Costa Rican bar and danced all night, got free weed, and free drinks. biggrin

I love these people and I'm so honored that I got the opportunity to come here. It really showed me a different take on the world and how other people live. AND HOW SPOILED WE ALL ARE IN THE STATES! lol It's really a great thing to see all these people and how happy they are with things that would make others very depressed. It's alllllll relative and it really helps you count your blessings and not take everything for granted.

I think a lot of people would benefit from such a trip, just so they can see how well we have it in this country compared to most others.
