I have entered the world of academic administration. Emails, calenders and official looking jackets. I'm now your regular working gal. Up before the sun with NPR and in an office without windows for the rest of the day. Sigh.
Luckily I have decided to treat this new experience as another opportunity to make art. I started writing an email called, "Artists in Offices". My old professors told me a book was calling my name, yeah, comic books is all I see for now.
Really though, I'm happy. I like the people I work with, I like Michigan, I like having my own apartment. I like feeling a little bit more adult and I LOVE having insurance and an income. Well the income hasn't happened yet so I'm still poor and owe lots of people money for helping me cover bills in the mean time.
A few things I dream of doing? JOINING A FANCY GYM! Yes, first order of action after I get a real hair cut and figure out what the fuck has been wrong with my ear for the past 4 mths. The gym has a salt water pool!
Currently I'm watching Reality Bites and in a way I'm flattered that my girlfriend from years ago said I reminded her of Winona Ryder's character. I wonder if I'll feel that way at the end.
ETA: I just finished watching the movie and all I can think is, 1-"God, im so in love with Ethan Hawke" 2-"I'm beginning to have 90s hair".

I'm sure I've said this before, but I hear that Ann Arbor is great. And I will always kind of miss having my own apartment wherever it's located. (I had one for about eight months, tops, but still: pretty awesome.) I'm glad to hear you're taking to everything so well! Any fall colors there yet?
Come to think of it, there's a slight chance I might be in Ann Arbor or thereabouts the weekend of Thanksgiving (unless the time off I booked for the day after gets rescinded--I started a new position this week, and the old position really didn't require me to be very strict at all with when I was in the office and when I wasn't , and the new position is kind of the exact opposite of that. It's not impossible that I'll talk to my new manager about that time off and she'll go, "Aww. You got the day after Thanksgiving off, back then? That's cute. I'll see you at 8:00AM on November 25th, k?"). If I manage to get there, we should try to meet up!
