Hm. Update. I had a rather interesting one all lined up, but my computer crashed. Now I just feel silly repeating what I wrote in it. Not that you would know the difference. In truth, I'm only updating because I want more comments. I have a very real fear of abandonment--ask Dogslife. I think it comes from being an only child.

I went to an Emerging Artists' Rountable on Saturday. It's comforting to know that most people hate schmoozing as much as I do. Apparently writing emails and letters is perfectly acceptable. I'll be doing that soon, so that I can try to work as an assistant designer somewhere.

A guy I met during my MA has asked me to do the lighting design for a show he has coming up in November. He's from Nigeria and uses the strangest proverbs I've ever heard. Most of them end up becoming these convoluted Dr. Phil-type things that I just can't wrap my head around. I can't tell if it's because of a cultural divide or because he's removed them from all proper context. One he included in his email was, "I'd honestly appreciate a positive response Ginny for the devil one knows is much better than the angel they don't". We made a point of writing all his sayings down in class, but now I don't remember what happened to the list. I vaguely recall one about the head of a cow. I tried looking them up Nigerian Proverbs online. They all make sense there.

While in the Distillery District for the meeting, I saw a dog I met about a year ago--Bruce, I think. He and I got very friendly, and then a little girl asked me if she could give him a cookie. She thought he was my dog. I met two other dogs at the farmer's market. One of them slobbered on my shoulder, the other on my camera. Today, Oscar came into work. He doesn't like to fetch, but I'm trying to teach him. I like dogs.

On Friday we were watching Six Feet Under. When Nate had a seizure I burst into tears.

On Saturday Dogslife hid in the shadows of the bedroom, then jumped out to scare me.

It did.
I cried.

Moral: Ginny does not like surprises.
