Nice!

I heart amazon dot com. I just managed to find a book that's virtually impossible to find in any book shop. Hakim Bey's, T.A.Z. (Temporary Autonomous Zones, Ontological Anarchy and Poetic Terrorism)

I had the pleasure of reading TAZ just once before. This guy from kansas, Shelly, lived with me for several months in hong kong, and we became great friends. When he moved in he had just come from beijing. He was there taking an intensive mandarin course, that I someday would like to subject myself to.

Anyway, a old prof of his told him about hakim bey and shelley, just as I, immediately took to him. The problem is that with everything Bey writes he publishes with an "anticopyright". Which means that you can do whatever the hell you want with his writings. Cool huh?
He's the only writer I've ever seen do it.
So, you can imagine that whomever the buyer is at most bookshops either don't know who the hell HB is, or they steer the hell away from his anticopywrite sort of ways.

For anyone who's interested in reading a bit of his work, you can buy TAZ and other sets of essays from amazon, or because he's such a cool fella, you can just google him to find his website, where you can read everything for free, and even print off everything hes' ever writen if you like. good times. Two reasons I didn't just print it off for free are that I like to actually have a book in it's artsy published way, and I travel a fair bit, so my books need to be bound in some way, or they just get fucked over by wear and tear.

The other book I ordered, which I could never find in hk, is Aldous Huxley's, 'Island'. This is also a great novel by the fella that introduced the world to, Brave New World...a somewhat more acceptable future than Orson Wells' classic, '1984'.
Anyway, Island is a great book that I borrowed from an old flatmate of mine, but never got the chance to finish because she had already promissed it to a college of hers.

Of course, I charged both books to my mastercard, just as I did this sg account. But I'm not too worried because I'll have my visa payed off come the end of the month, my overdraft is already over and done with, which solely leaves the infamous mastercard. I'm confident that I can handle one weight of debt just fine.

Time for a late breakfast.
cheers!

hmmm.. that book sounds interesting, but what seems more interesting is the fact that your in Hong kong. There must be a story for that one. do you speak chinese?
