i am constantly surprised at how many people here, and elsewhere, have tattoos. (i aways think of that short guy saying "boss, de plane, de plane" when i hear the word tattoo...

the thing is, i just cannot imagine anyone purposely asking someone to stick needles into them when they don't have to. i have diabetes and am required to puncture myself somewhere at least 7 times per day, and every time i have to gird my loins for a second or an hour before i do it. if the alternative wasn't death, no way could you coax me into those needles.

and then, there is the thing about change. what if the design you love at 20 is one that makes you feel silly at 30? it's not like new shoes, you can't go to the store and buy new boots to replace your summer sandals.

le has the most beautiful dinner plate sized tattoo on her back, and there are many lovely tattoos here and elsehwere, so it isn't that i dislike them intensely or am horrified on a mom basis or anything, i am just confused by the whole process of paying someone to hurt you.
