I bought a plane ticket to Austin. March 11th through the 19th, I'll be there. A friend got me a job working at SXSW. I get paid while on vacation and get to see shows for free and I get to see my best friend from Portland and Shanti and my high school girlfriend, Elizabeth, whom I haven't seen in 15 years.

Rub me for luck. '07 seems to be finally at rest in its grave. Ever since my reading, things have been happening. Music and a new place to live, no silly romantic wrangling, time with friends, work's a breeze and profitable, a new job at a new wine store, it's good times right now.

I overheard a guy say that his marriage "is what it is: no changes, no surprises." He had a broken smile, fidgety hands. He was doing his best to make it sound like no big thing. He was betraying his own version of events.

How do you become bored with someone? Is this okay for some? I know I would do something rather foolish to rid myself of it if I felt so entangled: tied together by children and money and the passage of time. The sound of the clock must be tremendous in that house.
