Hope you're all having very happy holidays so far!

Mine have been really nice. Good family time with only minimal dysfunction. I did miss mass on Christmas Eve due to the icey roads, which I feel a little sad about. (I'm a wanna-be Catholic.)

We saw The Phantom of the Opera last night. My expectations were low because I've heard so much criticism about it, but I liked it quite a bit. First of all, I love the show and the music. I thought Gerard Butler as the Phantom was much better than people have given him credit for. Minnie Driver was very funny. Emmy Rossum's expressions were slightly irritating, but her voice was nice. Raoul had a weak screen presence, but also a nice voice. To me, the best thing about the film was the production design and costumes. It was absolutely beautiful.

We also rented movie last night. Guess what it is. Here's your hint:

First, we'll have an orgy. Then we'll go see Tony Bennett.
