**SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEL**
I GOT A JOB!!!!!!!!!
I had a job interview this morning for an ophthalmic assistant position at a laser eye clinic in downtown Toronto. I have been keeping my fingers cross for the St. Michaels Hospital job for weeks now, and decided if they called me I wouldnt go to this interview.
They didnt call me, so I went.
The interview went really good and the surgeon seems like a really nice man. The staff consists of two little old ladies ( Margaret and Dolly hehe) and the office is brand new and trendy.
I asked for a couple dollars more an hour than I was making at my last job.
He seemed to really like me and said that my credentials were "outstanding" and he had one more interview, but would call me to begin training on Monday if for whatever reason I was a better fit.
So as I was leaving my interview I noticed I had a missed call. I checked my voicemail and it was the surgeon from St Mikes calling to tell me I had the job!
I started thinking though, the St Mikes job was a 6 month contract. The salary was $24/hr which is great but in 6 months I would be right back where I started. 6 Months goes by really fast.
I decided to wait until I heard back from this doctor and he called me a few hours later to tell me I got the job!!!!
So look at that. I get 2 jobs in one day! haha
I had to tell the surgeon at St Mikes over the phone ( he didnt have voice mail
) that I had taken another position and he seemed so sad hahaha . But really, he understood that I need security.
So my new job as Ophthalmic Assistant begins Monday. I have training on an OCT ( Optical Coherence Tomograph) which is an extremely expensive ocular instrument which Im excited to learn.
I think I made the right decision. The St Mikes job pays alot more, but this job is secure. And Im still making $2 more per hour than I was at my last job.
I am a happy panda! More than I have been in a verrrrrry long time!
