Damn, no updates in over a week. Do I suck or what? Well, at least I (sort of) have an excuse. First of all, I do still live in Barnwell (town motto: "No, we STILL don't realize that the Civil War is over!")
Second of all, I'm recovering from my second god-awful sinus infection of the year. Except this one was actually an "upper respiratory infection"...and a BAD one at that. It came with a 103+ degree fever, stiff neck, oversensitivity to light and sound, a full-body rash, a wet hacking cough, a throat that would scare an NFL defensive lineman, lymph nodes the size of cats, and an inescapable feeling that my the tiny alien living inside my skull was ready to explode forth and terrorize the citizens of the tri-county area at any moment.
Well, after one misdiagnosis of meningitis, two antibiotic shots (one in each butt cheek), 2,000 mg of antibiotics a day,
a decongestant with two pages of accompanying warnings, and three and a half days of lying around in the dark wishing I'd just die...I'm all but well now. I finally got back to work today, although the drugs still have me slightly dizzy, my vision a little blurred, and my bathroom breaks...umm, never mind.
Ok, I can't resist: MUD BUTT!
In the meantime (I had a lot of time for reading and introspection while stuck in my room the last few days), I figured out a lot about myself that I WILL post here as soon as I get my thoughts cleaned up and coherent enough to make them both readable and interesting. Yes, you CAN actually learn things from the study of Sociology if you're paying attention!
On a completely unrelated note...
I've decided that the FIRST thing I'm going to do when I move to Spartanburg (no, it's still not DEFINITE, but I'm thinking positively here), even before I unpack, is...that I'm dyeing my hair again. I haven't done it in quite some time (probably because I couldn't really get away with it while living with various branches of the Geddings/Coker family trees), but it once was one of my favorite pasttimes. People used to come into the coffee shop where I was working at the time just to see what color my hair was that week! Here's the way I look at it. In case you haven't noticed from the picture, my hairline has already began its migration north. (I know...I won't even be 26 until the end of the month. In a cruel twist of fate, my the hair on top of my head began its retreat BEFORE the hair on my face ever fully grew in.) So I'd better have fun with it while I still can, right?
So right now, I'm polling my friends as to what color I should try this time. So far, I've gotten votes for brilliant blue (my favorite thus far), "weed green", dark purple, pink...and one for "leave it alone." But polls are still open! Vote early and often!
As always, stay tuned...
