The top 2 teams in the Elite Ice Hockey League met on a Friday night at the house of steel. The Cardiff Devils currently top the table but with games in hand the Steelers were breathing down their necks and had the chance to close the gap at the top. Both sides would come close to getting the first goal of the game and it would be the Steelers who would take the lead through Colton Fretter to end the 1st period at 1-0. The 2nd period was scoreless and 3 minutes into the 3rd period Colton Fretter would score his 2nd goal of the game to make it 2-0. With 15 minutes to go it looked like smooth sailing and the Steelers would close the gap on the Devils but the Steelers hit the self destruct button with goals from Bentivoglio, Doucet and 2 goals from Asselin the arena was stunned as the Devils for the 3rd time this season would leave the house of steel with the 2 points.
