lyric's beta fish, dody, (she named him), died today. He jumped out of his bowl, onto the floor sometime today and dried up on the carpet. we had to break the news to lyric....and honestly, i didnt think she was going to take it to hard. so we told her tome come see us in the living room and i decided i needed to just come right out and say it.

"Lyric, listen...Dody's dead."
she gasped and looked at justin.
"he died today, baby, he must've jumped to high and he jumped out of his bowl." Justin tells her.
"He did?! But...WAHHHHH!" SHE STARTS BAWLING
"BUT I LOVED HIM SO MUCH! NOT FAIR!" she buries her head in my chest and just bawls.

justin and i tell her that sometimes these things happen, and we all pass away some day, and blah blah blah. We console her and tell her that dody loved us an we loved him too. justin tells her we'll go get another fish this weekend and she can name this one too. I tell her maybe we'll get a red one this time (dody was blue). She looks up at me, tear soaked face,

"Can we name her princess and can we get a red one that wont jump out of the bowl?"

i tell her we'll try.

my feelings are hurt too...i liked dody, i used to hand feed him and he would get all excited and swim all over his bowl and go nutts whenever i walked by...i know...it may be stupid, but i;m gonna miss that fish...
