just saw charlie and the chocolate factory...cant believe i spent $19.50 and over 2 hours of my life on that.
it may be more true to the book, however, it still sucked a big one.
first off, while i can admit that tim burton is a creative and talented director, he's not the most versatile director. HE SHOULDNT HAVE DIRECTED IT THIS TIME!
there was nothing subtle about tim burton's darkness and he sucked the fun right out of the movie. and of course i know all the snooty booties are gonna call me out on it and say, "well, the first movie wasnt anything like the book." but gene wilder, mel stuart and the people involved in the first movie created a cult classic.
as justin so eloquently put it, "It was garbage."
They made Willa Wonka into a gay weirdo with a Daddy Complex, not a candy mastermind/genius, with a dark side.
at least dinner was tasty.
