ok, against my better judgement i went and saw The Last Samurai, and i was completely shattered and blown away. this film was wonderful.
now, i'm no Tommy Cruise fan, but i was able to overlook any prior roles and really genuinely appreciate his performance. no Top Gun or Interview w/ the Vampire here. however, i think any other accomplished american actor could have performed it as well. Ken Watanabe was awesome. Hiroyuki Sanada is my new secret boyfriend. he plays the part of Ujio, and mother mary is he a fox. rawr!
so, yeah, i recommend it. maybe wait til it comes out on video, but certainly worthwhile. to my suprise.
