Hey everyone,
It was a very cold week out there. It seems like it was cold everywhere. I know it was freezing where I was. But I am home now. It's still cold, but being home makes you feel warmer.
I got home late Friday night. So I was able to spend all day Friday hoping my plane didn't end up in the Hudson. Was that incredible or what? I still can't believe that the pilot was able to do that safely. And then everyone in NYC chipping in and helping them out. Wow! It just restores my faith in people! Amazing!
I woke up this morning to more snow. Looks like we got about 3 to 4 inches last night. That means I have some shoveling to do. But not before I treated myself to blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Yum! And a nice big cup of joe! lol
My apartment is so clean. While I was gone my mom came over to feed my cats (yes, I am a cat lady!) and I guess she decided to do some cleaning. My apartment was vacuumed, no dishes in the sink, and my bed was made! lol Thanks mom!!! Love you!
I think it is supposed to warm up today, maybe get into the 20's. That's a heck of a lot better than it was earlier in the week. I will probably still spend most of the day indoors. It is a football day, and if it gets boring I have some new videos that came in the mail this week that I won on ebay. I love shopping on ebay!!! This week I got 2 more seasons of the Simpsons, and another of South Park. I love cartoons!
Well, since I tested your patience and attention spans last week with my novel of a poem I will take it easy this week and post some short ones. I do hope you like them.
The Grocery War
Celery has launched a major offensive.
Crackers have dropped leaflets and jammed Radio Free Poultry.
Tomatoes have made a stand in an old department store...they may have enough gelatin prisoners to make some kind of deal.
A dazed mango wanders through the streets as loaves of bread rumble past on the way to the gravy front.
Bags of sugar patrol the skies.
In a house, a mother is making dinner for herself and her daughter.
"We must not do this, it is against The War Act," she says.
On the edge of the city, eggnog has gained a foothold.
Bacon has been subdued.
Some canned goods start up the walk towards a house...
Night
Look,
Look up into the great expanse
Where the blue black curtain
Hides eternity
And little jewels sparkle
Against the dark.
Its beautiful.
Look for the colors
the things you miss with just a glance.
Stars that shine, red, yellow or blue,
That gradual lightening from horizon to space
The powder white of the milky way
The deepening purple haze
So so many variations in the night sky
Look for what you cannot see
And there find the beauty of infinity.
Snow
A little bit of snow
Makes everything pretty
It's romantic to take a walk in
As it falls from the sky.
But too much of the stuff
And you can't walk at all
Makes you hide inside your house
Til you fucking want to die.
Snow.
