it drives me nuts what a mess flour makes when you open the bag, scoop out of the bag, etc. so i thought of other food staples that once upon a time, people used to transfer into their own, more stable, containers. i'm sure some people still do. but not most. anyway, it seemed that sugar is usually used in a pouring motion. rice and flour, a scooping one.

I inherited all my grandma's tupperware-type containers when she died last fall and it's kinda cool because they're already labeled and come with scoopers for everything!! Grits, sugar, flour (3 kinds), rice (3 kinds), etc....it was cool.
