i don't have the stomach for politics anymore.
until the conventions, i was only mildly following the race. back in atlanta, i would have been much more plugged in at this point. perhaps its the (potentially false) sense of security i feel now living in a liberal stronghold. anyway, once Palin was announced, i got interested. well, i got angry. angry that the Republicans would pander so blatently to the overhyped PUMAs. i was also angry at those who would fall for it.
so then i started reading and watching coverage the way i used to. on top of every development as fast as it was broadcast. the roller coaster ride of "holy crap! this will change everything" to "holy crap! this isn't making any difference" doesn't feel exhilerating like it used to. now it just makes me feel sick.
is it age? or the lingering PSTD effects of the 2000 and 2004 elections?
my bet is its the loss of hope.
