Looking for Job..again

This happened like a week ago, I have been looking for a job again since. I have some leads, but nothing definate yet, so if you have and information on a decent job, please let me know.

In case you didn't know I was working at Waterstreet Brewery. I had gotten the job to work as much as possible to get my money surplus where I am used to having it.

How ever, after barely working there for a month..having not been getting the hours was promised when hired...I started getting even less hours..like one shift a week. In addition to that, they had 4! people in training. I had tried picking up hours from other people but there was no one looking to give up shifted.

I talked to the management about when the short fall in hours might be resolved. They became threating and elusive at once saying I was never promised any thing..a lie, and starting to try threaten me nit picking my performance thus far. As they had never mentioned any complaints in my work before this moment, and all of the complaints were fairly weak bordering on ridiculous. I had only gotten great compliments from other staff for my hard work, during some out sourcing work at a wedding i a had helped cater. I could tell at this point this is how they "ran" things and I was merely a victim of over hiring, in which the expected the surplus to quit on there own. Wanted to have a good record, and have a clear schedule for looking for work, it was decided by both parties that I would quit working there. I of course offered to work my last..and only shift I was scheduled..they declined..after all they had a staff full of people looking for hours. They offered offered a good reference, I am leaning towards not even listing them as I worked there for only a month or so.

Meh it happens, but leaves me even further disenfranchised in regards to working for corporate/semi-corporate jobs. However I need to work to live, I just wish that I had invested to focused effort into learning a trade prior to now, so I could be self employed or at least in a job where they valued there workers...at all. On thing that stood out during my meeting with the general manager at WSB, was him pointing out how i should be managing somewhere rather then working as a general laborer.

This got me to thinking...
I can say with some vigor that I am a fairly capable person. There are many skills I lack, but I always try to learn new skills when they present them selves. In regards to responsibility I have had been in charge of many things over the years. From households, to trips, to taking a lot of lead in the work place. Most of these came from no one else stepping forward, so I took the role to make sure it got done right. While far from being a perfectionist I do strive to do things to the best of my ability. To do things "right". There is always many ways about going about a task at hand, I hope and think I a open minded enough to try deferent methods. The more important distinction's is rooted in my approach to taking responsibility. I take responsibility when I have to rather for my own sake. That same attitude had colored the work i have taken, as well as my approach to education. Having been forced into many roles of responsibility over the years, I seem to actively avoid it. Not the task, but merely the responsibility that is linked to it.

Facing this I am looking at taking a new approach to taking responsibility. I want to not avoid taking responsibility unless I have to. I am not going to go and overwhelm my self. For to long however have I done the work, and not gotten the credit at most of my jobs.

While I think I thrive best in self dictated roles with out to much "middle management" looking over shoulder, I have come to value the importance of structure as well. I becomes exponentially easy to just do a task when you do not have to define the methods, means, and much of the time line in which to perform the task at hand. As to what I am looking for specifically, I have not defined that as of yet. I am taking a much more proactive approach in the latitude of work I am looking for. Thus i am applying for management work, sales, and challenging work in addition to customer service jobs i have worked in the past. While it is easy to just go to work, make some money, then go back to your real life. I want..and am willing to engage in something more emersive, challenging, and rewarding.
