Haven't updated my journal for a while--sorry about that.

Just returned from a trip to attend a friend's funeral--he had lung cancer, which seems to be going around these days . . .

It was good to see lots of old friends, many of whom asked if I would ever move back there. It is nice to now I am missed but flying into Seattle on a summer evening with Mt. Rainier bathed in a pale pink light, I realized I am here to stay.

While funerals are always a sad occasion, they provide an opportunity to a final good bye and to celebrate a life well-lived, which was the case for my friend. He lived his life very well indeed!

I am heading off to Scandinavia in a couple weeks and I am so looking forward to it. I have not taken a two week vacation for several years and I so need to get away and recharge the batteries. I have rented a summer cabin on the water for part of the time--it comes with a boat and a sauna--hmmm, forgot to ask if the sauna comes with hot Swedish women (gues they will be hot if they are in the sauna). Well I will just have to find out. I cannot wait!!!

Well, it looks like it is going to be a beautiful weekend! Have got a bunch of things to do around the house so I can get ready fro my trip as well as (and needless to say, catch up work at the office.)

Happy Friday to you all!

Glad to see you back.

Hope you have fun on your trip to Scandinavia. I've never had the chance to travel outside the U.S. (yet!) so I'm always interested in hearing about other people's experiences.

The new job is going well (thanks for asking). It's getting better than it was at first. I think that I'm the oldest person that works there so I don't feel like I connect all that well with my co-workers but everyone is nice. Plus I feel so at home anytime I'm in a theater so I enjoy that.

Monterey is so beautiful... I had a blast there. I don't think I'll ever afford living there but my sister and her husband will be there a little bit longer so I'll have to find a reason to visit them sometime. It's nice that she's in the Army because the hotel on base is super cheap which makes vacationing there actually affordable. Maybe I'll check out Santa Barbara next time I'm out there.
