Five-Minute fiction - 23:25-23:30
Hagen stared at the tiny, shivering creature and tried not to balk at its attire. It was dirty, filthy even, covered from head to toe in some indescribable ichor.
What is your name? Hagen asked trying to both get close enough to hear the answer, and stay far enough way not to smell the creature.
It mumbled something, unintelligible, but clearly it possessed some knowledge of his tongue, and was capable of processing it and providing some kind of answer. But that did not leave him with many options.
Where did you come from? he asked.
He stepped closer, expecting the same mumbled reply, but this time the reply was a shriek. A tortured cry that pierced his mind and sent him reeling. He staggered his hands shielding his ears from the terrible sound. But as quickly as the shriek came it was gone and the strange creature once again stood stolid, almost defiant.
What are you? Hagen asked daring to step closer.
