Come on, Dana, you need to pick up the pace! the voice said echoing down from the loudspeakers.
Dana Fosterwald tensed as she felt the floor beneath her shift and the immense treadmill increase its speed. She hadnt expected to be having such a hard time, but the sheer intensity of the physical tests was proving to be almost too much.
A dozen or so metres in front of her Shawn Patterson, and Greg Ulder seemed to almost be skimming over the surface of the treadmill. Patterson was quick, Dana knew that much from the chase up the interior of the Obelisk, but she hadnt expected him to be that fast. The two men chatted, she could just hear them over the sound the machinery working away beneath her, and while the conversation wasnt about anything more than what they planned to eat after the test, the idea that they could have the breath to speak was rather intimidating.
