The two knights circled the ends of the rail guiding their horses with the steadied practiced hand of veterans. Metal glinted in noonday sun, the tips of lances appearing to radiate like jewels held aloft. The crowd roared their approval, churning in a great mass of bodies, pressing, heaving, throwing themselves against each other as they sought to get closer to the action, to see the blood spilled. 8
