Five-Minute fiction - 23:55-00:00
Grim kicked the door. Or well, he actually tried to kick the door more appropriately it was the door that kicked him. He staggered back and nearly toppled onto his ass. Darker lurked nearby his eyes watching the coming and going of the crowd, his hands were tucked inside his jacket and Grim caught the faint flicker of muscle tensions in Darkers jaw as the man waited.
Cursing Grim reared up and charged the door, raising one foot to the wood just above the lock. On a normal door the wood would have shattered, bowed in by the force of the blow and splintered allowing the kicker access to the locking mechanism. But not this door. Grim rebounded again this time landing hard on his ass in the street.
What are you doing? Darker hissed heard the commotion but not looking around.
Nothing, Grim snapped back.
Puling himself to his feet he crossed back to the door took a step back and thinking better of it turned left and walked around the side of the house.
After a few moments there was a crash and a light flicked on in the small window hat overlooked the door. The lock, a heavy brass affair, clicked over and Grim appeared in the doorway.
Do you have any money? I dont think their insurance will cover the window. Its not standard procedure.
