Five-Minute fiction - 22:34-22:39
As a matter of fact, no, Grim said as he sprang over the railing and dropped from sight.
The guards froze for but a moment before they catapulted to the balcony and stared out into the gathering twilight. Grim lay prone in the street some twenty feet below the balcony, both his legs hurt, but neither appeared broken, at least based on the cursory examination that a splinter of bone had not erupted through his skin and more importantly not through the leather.
Now, if youll excuse me, I shall be taking my leave, Grim said hauling himself to his feet and limping off in the direction of the main gate.
An immense clatter sounded and Grim turned to see the three guards dropping from the balcony onto the cobbles. They dropped like stones, one, two, three. And it seemed that the ground beneath the balcony had taken it as an affront that Grim had not broken a limb, so as the first guard landed there was a very audible snap. Followed by a scream.
