Five-minute fiction - 23:57-00:02

Hands up against the wall! the policeman said.

Grim moved to respond sliding closer to the wall as the felt large hands wrapped in thick leather gloves brush over the bare skin of his wrists. It was no or never, he slipped sideways one-two stepping as he slid in beside the policeman and used the mans weight against him. They crashed, together, into the wall and Grim leapt back.

The low-hanging eave was just out of reach, but there was no other escape from the alley. The mans startled cry had drawn the attention of his coworkers. Shouts emanated from both ends of the alley, and Grim knew he was running out of time.

In one quick motion Grim flicked backward and charged toward the staggering man. As the policeman turned Grim jumped pushing his foot into the mans stomach, collapsing him. As the man collapsed Grim pushed off and with the help of the additional height and leverage he caught the edge of the eave with his fingers.

Muscles straining, tendons twanging he pulled himself up and on to the roof.
